Where It All Started

I'm sitting here on the couch in my first apartment in New York City, watching Seinfeld of all shows, with the hubs (Dan), trying to think of something awesome to write. Tonight was one of those we're-still-moving-into-a-tiny-apartment-with-way-too-much-stuff nights, trying to Jenga our way around the floor. Well, it's a little more like Tetris now. We can move the pieces around on the floor to get to the front door or kitchen, but we have to move them back if we want to walk around the apartment. Before, it was literally Jenga; things stacked everywhere and you were forced to pull something from somewhere to get to the next place. Here's a pic of the mess (sorry it's blurry):

The couch was only uncovered fully yesterday, and now we actually hang our coats in the closet. That is, the one of two closets we have in the entire apartment. Anyway, yeah, it was one of those nights, so we didn't do anything especially exciting.

Let's see, how did all of this happen and how did we end up in a tiny box in the middle of a huge, lovely, bustling city? Let's go back about 25 years ago to a little girl watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, and probably eating a cinnamon role. She marveled at the floats and bands, but the best part of the whole parade (besides Santa, of course) was the Rockette's performance on the big, green Macy's star. I guess you probably know who that little girl is, me of course! Anyway, I decided that being a Rockette was my destiny, and through the years, I practiced my kicks and watched that parade every single year. After I reached my max height of 5'3", I realized becoming a Rockette wasn't going to happen, but that didn't stop me of dreaming of New York, where the excitement of my youth took place on television. Finally, in my senior year of high school, I visited the Big Apple and decided that one day, I would make it my home.

Luckily, I married a pretty adventurous guy. After contemplating buying a home in Virginia (where we got married), and doing the whole exhausting search, we changed our minds and started considering a few places and New York was one of them. After months of planning, contemplating, and asking ourselves if we could really do it, we made the decision to take the risk and go for it!

Thanks for taking the time to read this today! My posts won't always be so wordy, so please come back again! I promise more photos in the future :)
